Implementation & Evidence-Based Verification
Make a bounded change, investigate failures and produce reproducible evidence tied to the actual source bundle.

What you will learn
- Keep a diff aligned with an acceptance case.
- Use unit, integration and evaluation evidence for different claims.
- Invalidate stale checks after a source change.
Before you start
The flow
- 1.Inspect baseline
- 2.Bound the diff
- 3.Unit checks
- 4.Database/eval checks
- 5.Lint/build
- 6.Bind evidence
Small changes and isolated workspaces
Inspect the current worktree and preserve unrelated edits. A separate Git worktree can isolate a committed baseline on its own branch, but does not automatically contain another worktree’s uncommitted changes. Record the baseline and transfer only authorized changes when isolation is needed.
The source selector changes the request contract and service, with focused tests. Keep authentication, CSRF, model version and database schema stable. A small diff makes the authorization argument and rollback impact easier to inspect.
Different checks establish different facts
A unit test proves excluded candidates do not trigger the model. MockMvc plus real pgvector verifies request validation and tenant-scoped retrieval. Six fixture eval cases compare the unfiltered legacy path with the selected path; this is a controlled behavioral comparison, not historical live model performance.
Lint checks code rules; build checks TypeScript and static rendering. Neither proves semantic grounding. If a check fails, inspect the cause, repair the defect and rerun relevant checks. Do not remove a negative test merely to produce a green report.
Evidence belongs to exact bytes
The verification runner hashes an allowlisted source bundle before and after running checks, captures command logs and exit codes, and reads the real eval output. A source edit during verification rejects the result. Generated target directories and credentials are excluded.
The local digest is an integrity correlation, not a signed provenance attestation. CI identity, protected workflow settings and artifact storage must be verified separately. A pending human review remains pending even if every automated check passes.

Interview questions
How would you demonstrate: Keep a diff aligned with an acceptance case.

Practice
Apply this stage to RAG-SELECT-001 and prepare the handoff for the next owner.
Check your solution
- Reference one observable acceptance case.
- Include exact files, commands and remaining risks.
- Keep review pending until independent approval of the unchanged candidate.
